Hello, my name is

Chaeyoon Kim

Ph.D candidate student
in KAIST

What I do

From conventional THz-TDS to THz emission spectroscopy, I conduct various experiments related to THz.

THz-TDS

The THz frequency range is a domain where various properties such as phonon modes, resonant modes of antiferromagnets, and superconducting gaps are discovered. Through THz-TDS, one can investigate various properties of materials and provide insights into the characteristics of charge carriers, phonons, and other features of the material in THz range.

high power thz experiment

Generating THz radiation at mW power levels is challenging using conventional methods. However, by employing LiNbO3 and the pulse front tilting technique, it is possible to generate high-power THz light. Currently, experiments using the high-power THz are being conducted to observe processes such as the demethylation of cancer DNA.

THz emission spectroscopy

THz emission spectroscopy directly measures the THz waves from photoexcited materials such as semiconductors, FM/HM structures, organic crystals etc.. It allows the observation of the ultrafast dynamics of charge carriers and light-matter interactions within the materials. This technique provides insights into the phenomena occurring within the material and can also be used to develop new THz light sources.
